The Waffle opened in 2008 with an emphasis on classic American diner food, particularly breakfast, which is sourced from sustainable and organic farming practices. Quickly they became famous for their waffles and vegetarian-focused dishes that had Susan Feniger proclaiming the red velvet waffles as the best thing she had ever eaten on The Food Network.
But fear not carnivores, for they do serve bacon, and particularly scrumptious is the bacon mac n’ cheese. They also offer savory sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers. But true to form, if you want something that combines savory and breakfast, do try their waffle spiked with jalapeño peppers that is topped with a gravy-soaked fried chicken breast.
Additionally, from Thursday to Saturday beginning from 6PM to 10PM their bar stays open late for that late-night Hollywood crowd.
The proprietors of The Waffle are animal lovers and they support the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Los Angeles (SPCA LA). That is why they created the dog-friendly patio in front of their restaurant and even proclaim on their website that they “recognize the importance of spending social time with your four legged friends!”
“2 Charlies mean a moderate dog-friendly area.”
