Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu extends across Los Angeles and Ventura counties with the southern portion being in Los Angeles and the northern portion being in Ventura.
Lifeguard Tower 3 serves as the marker that separates the beach and unfortunately dogs are only allowed on the north beach. This is because the south beach has tide pools that are protected.
Moreover, unlike the off-leash Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach and the off-leash Huntington Dog Beach in Huntington Beach, dogs must be on a 6-foot leash at all times.
Still, being able to bring your dog with you to the beach is a nice treat.
* Parking is available in the ranger-operated parking lot for $12 per car or you can find parking along Pacific Coast Highway (just make sure to read the signs!).
