This morning I was awoken from my doggy dreams by a whole lot of shaking and rattling so I got scared and started barking. Instantly my dad gave me a hug followed by mom’s embrace. All three of us lay in bed as our house shook for about 10-15 seconds.

Once the shaking stopped, dad checked the seismic level of the earthquake with his smartphone and said that the earthquake was about a 4.7 on the Richter scale. Then we all went back to sleep. The reality of living in California. At least we don’t have snow!

It’s funny that despite all the dogs in my neighborhood, I was the only one that was startled. I don’t understand why earthquakes occur, something about plate tectonics, but I sure am not looking forward to another one.
