Easy Pot Holder

I admit it, I am a fabric hoarder and I just cannot pass on cute printed fabric! I have just got to have it!!! So, I purchased these quilt quality prints from fabricBUBB on Etsy. I just wish that they came in light to medium canvas quality to make Charlie’s beds… but oh well.

So, this was my first attempt in making pot holders so I chose a simple square shape.

First, I cut two 9×9 squares of cotton prints(I used two different prints to make it reversible & fun), one 8×8 insul-bright and one 8×8 cotton batting.

Second, I sewed three sides of cotton prints only and turned the fabric right side out.

Third, I inserted the insul-bright & batting inside. Then I did an 1/8-1/4″ top stitch on the opening side to close the ends. You can add hoop at this time.

Lastly, I  added a 1 1/2″ border stitch around the edges. You can also add any decorative stitching instead of a border stitch.

Voilà! Handmade pot holders. I’m thinking about making a bunch to give out to friends & family for the holidays. I can’t wait to try different shapes, stitching & prints! BTW, Charlie fell asleep next to me while I was making these pot holders. Sew cute!
